Gear to bring when hiking and visiting Rocky Mountain National Park

Here are some items that you should consider bringing with you when you go hiking:

  1. Water and snacks. It's important to stay hydrated and nourished while you're hiking, so bring plenty of water and snacks with you. Water bottles, hydration packs, or water filtration systems can help you stay hydrated, and high-energy snacks, such as energy bars or trail mix, can provide you with the fuel you need to keep going.

  2. Proper clothing and footwear. Wear comfortable, breathable clothing that is appropriate for the weather and the terrain. Bring a jacket or other outer layer to protect you from the elements, and wear sturdy, comfortable hiking boots or shoes that provide good support and traction.

  3. Navigation and communication tools. Bring a map, compass, or GPS device to help you navigate the trail, and bring a cell phone or other communication device in case you need to call for help.

  4. First aid kit. A basic first aid kit can help you to treat minor injuries or other medical issues that may arise while you're on the trail. Your first aid kit should include bandages, gauze, pain relievers, and other essential items.

  5. Sun protection. If you're hiking in sunny weather, bring sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses to protect your skin and eyes from the sun's harmful rays.

  6. Emergency supplies. It's always a good idea to bring a few emergency supplies with you when you go hiking, just in case you get lost or stranded on the trail. A small flashlight, a whistle, a fire starter, and a knife can be valuable.
